Hi! My
name is Emily Goodwin and I am going to be a freshman at Liberty High School. I live with my mom, Lydia, my dad, Kevin, my
older sister Hannah who is graduating this year from liberty and my younger
brother, Caleb. I love singing and acting. I have been in several productions
at my school. I was the lead in my school’s musical this year. I also enjoy
jamming out to 80’s songs with my dad in the car on our way to school and on
our way home. But the thing that I love most is kids with special needs. There
is a classroom for kids with autism at my school and I go down to the classroom
whenever I can to hang out with the kids.
They are my best friends really. I have been going to Shoal Creek for my whole
life and it is like my second home. What
I love about Shoal Creek is that is makes everyone feel welcomed and we try to
help anyone who is in need. We care about others and we try our best to spread
the word of the Lord.
On this
trip to Colorado I am hoping to deepen my relationship with God. I have always
had doubts or questions about God and I think going on this trip will answer
some of them. Being in the wilderness just makes me feel like I am at the heart
of God’s creation. I feel so close to
God in the mountains, and I think reading the bible and journaling out there
will help build my relationship. One of the last things that I am hoping is to
become closer to the people that are going, and to become closer to my mom
because she is one of the leaders going on the trip.
The
total cost of the trip is $550 dollars. I have been working at home to get
money and I have been babysitting frequently to try to reach that goal. My
parents are helping me out, but I still need about $350 dollars to reach my
goal. I have been praying about this trip and I would really love your support!
Thank
you for taking the time to read about me and my hopes for Colorado. This is one
of the great journeys God is going to take me and everyone else on. I just want to thank you so much for any
support that you give me or to my fellow friends. I can’t wait to come back and share what I
learned and what I have experienced.
